DeForest police arrest 54-year-old man in connection with hit-and-run
DEFOREST, Wis. — DeForest police have arrested a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries Monday night.
The pedestrian was hit by a semi-truck at the intersection of Trailside Drive and West North Street just before 7 p.m., according to the DeForest Police Department.
On Tuesday, a resident contacted the DPD and told officers where the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash was located. Police said the vehicle, an 18-wheel semi-truck and trailer, had damage consistent with the accident.
Based on a conversation with the vehicle’s owner and information from the investigation, police identified a suspect and arrested him. The suspect has been cooperative with law enforcement, according to a news release.
Police said they don’t plan to identify the 54-year-old man until the District Attorney’s Office makes a decision on possible charges.
The pedestrian hit by the truck was in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.
Authorities said their investigation is ongoing.
