Deerfield man leads police on vehicle, foot pursuit down interstate, officials say
DEERFIELD, Wis. — A Deerfield man was arrested early Tuesday morning after leading deputies and state patrol troopers on a pursuit down the interstate, Dane County officials said.
A Dane County sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop just before 1 a.m. on a 1999 Buick Lesabre four-door car in the village of Deerfield after a resident observed the vehicle repeatedly circling the 200 block of Kleine Street, according to a release.
After the deputy made contact with the driver and passenger, the driver fled south on Highway 73 and onto westbound Interstate 90, officials said.
A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper deployed tire deflation spikes, causing the vehicle to stop at mile maker 152, according to the release. The driver then fled on foot and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
The driver, 37-year-old Aaron Ethun, of Deerfield, was arrested on tentative charges of eluding, obstructing and bail jumping. He was also cited for operating after revocation and reckless driving.
The vehicle pursuit lasted 21.2 miles and about 19 minutes, officials said.
