Death of hunter in Marquette County appears natural, officials say

The death of a hunter in Marquette County Sunday afternoon is believed to be from natural causes, officials said.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said crews responded to a report at 2:20 p.m. of an unresponsive hunter in a wooded area in the town of Shields.

Officers found 50-year-old Dion Krueger, of Ripon, unresponsive, the report said.

In a news release Monday, the sheriff’s office said the incident “does not appear to be suspicious or unnatural.”

Marquette County EMS, Montello Fire Department, Wisconsin DNR and the Marquette County coroner are assisting in the investigation.
