David R. Hollis

Attica, WI/David R. Hollis, age 72, of Attica died peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2014 surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 21, 1942 at home at Dayton, WI the son of Cloyce and Genevieve (Pernot) Hollis. David attended Belleville High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1966. On April 18, 1964 he was united in marriage to Joanne McDermott at St. James Catholic Church in Dayton, WI. David worked for Carnes Company for 43 years until his retirement in 2009. David enjoyed nature of all types and loved hunting and fishing. Often whatever he hunted or fished on any given day was dinner that night be it deer, squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, or any fish in the Sugar River. David enjoyed many camping trips and spending times with family. He was a craftsman who built many pieces of furniture for his family to use and enjoy. David was an avid fan of the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers.

David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty years Joanne of Attica, WI, daughter Tricia (Earl) Bingman of Lake Villa, IL, grandchildren Sean (Stephanie Krumrei) Christensen of Madison, WI, Sheena (Dan Kerr) Christensen of Chicago, IL, Scott (Callie Gassner) Christensen of Fond du Lac, WI, a great-grandson Dominic Sunderlage, and a step-son Jeff (Jenni Schaffer) Stone of Oceanside, CA. He is further survived by brothers Wilbur Hollis of Belleville, WI and Neil Hollis of Kenosha, WI, a sister Nadine Ward of Oxford, WI, a sister-in-law Joan Hollis of Belleville, WI, and Joanne’s family Jeanette (Bob) McCullick, Jeraldine (Bob) Ihm, Donna McDermott, Janice Schulz, Judi Baker, Juanita (Walter) Anderson, Ian Campbell, June Frick, Bob (Kathy) McDermott, Ron (Diane) McDermott, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rowan, Everett, and Sheldon, sisters-in-law Sue Hollis, Pat Hollis, Joyce McIntyre, and Jane Campbell, and brothers-in-law Roger McDermott and Don Ward.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with Rev. Michael Moon officiating with burial in the St. James Cemetery with full military honors. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Becker-Beal Funeral in Belleville.

A memorial fund has been established.
