David L. Steffenhagen
DeForest David L. Steffenhagen, age 63, of DeForest, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. He was born September 26, 1949 in Portage, the son of William and Arlene (Quam) Steffenhagen. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Nelson on April 26, 1969 in Poynette and together they raised two sons.
David was a good husband and father and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He retired last year from Research Products Corporation after 43 years. He served two years in the U.S. Army during that time. David loved shooting pool and treasured the lasting friendships he made while playing in leagues and at tournaments. He also loved his Harleys and most weekends jumped on his Harley with his wife, Kathy, to cruise “up north” to their cabin for a little fishing.
David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathryn Steffenhagen; two sons, Andrew ( Latonya Cunningham and her son, Alton) Steffenhagen, Kim (Jackie) Steffenhagen; grandchildren, Isabelle, Addison, Olivia; brother, William (Karen) Steffenhagen, mother-in-law, Constance Nelson, sister-in-law, Kris (Tom) Manke, brothers-in-law, Ken Nelson, Marty (Heidi) Nelson and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Russell Nelson and brother-in-law, Robert Nelson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare, especially his nurse, Kim for their loving care.
A funeral service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, Windsor/DeForest Chapel, 6924 Lake Road at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 with Pastor Jerry A. Olson officiating.
Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will follow at a later date at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, WI.
