David A. Sperstad
MADISON/STOUGHTON -David Alden Sperstad passed away at his home on Monday, May 1, 2017, as a result of cardiac arrest.
He was born on June 9, 1955, in Manchester, N.H., the son of Sidney and Elizabeth “Betty” (Phelan) Sperstad.
David graduated from Stoughton High School. He worked as a waiter at his parent’s restaurant, Sperstad’s in high school and later at the Greenhouse in the Concourse Hotel, where he enjoyed his work and made many lifelong friends. David spent his last years enjoying his work at Der Rathskeller in the UW Memorial Union. He retired a year ago, but spoke highly of his time there, giving credit to working with the students who he said, “kept him young”.
David was proud of his family and his Norwegian heritage.
David is survived by his sister, Sonja Newell; brothers, Dana and Donald; two nephews, Denzel and Jason; niece, Marisa; great-niece and great-nephew, Sky and Jason III; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at BABE’S, 5614 Schroeder Rd., Madison, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017.
