Darrel L. Walker
JANESVILLE—- Darrel “Mick” L. Walker, age 77, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at home. He was born in Janesville on Aug. 18, 1935, the son of Sidney and Pearl (Stellrecht) Walker. He served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years, 2 years as an active reserve, 2 years in active duty service aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Coral Sea CVA 43 as a Damage Controlman, and 4 year as an inactive reserve. He married Marian Bird in Beloit on Oct. 23, 1955. Mick had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 31 ½ years. He was a 50 year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union Branch 572 and served as the Union Health Benefits Rep. for 20 years, retiring in 1992, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed wood working, furniture refinishing, golf, and cut many portraits and scenic pictures with his scroll saw.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Walker; 5 children: Marie (Ron) Fellows of Janesville, James Walker of Janesville, Debra Walker of Verona, Kristine (Lee) Hilde of Eagle River, Alaska and Sue (Jeff) Wiesner of Appleton; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Judy) Walker of Chesterfield, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, DuWayne Walker.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL with Rev. Mark Geisthardt officiating. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Mausoleum.
