MADISON – Darlene Kay Vitzthum, age 68, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017, at home with family by her side.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1948 in Madison, daughter of Dorothy (Vanderhoef) Raisbeck.

Darlene graduated from Madison Central High in 1966. She married Orville Vitzthum, on Jan. 15, 1972, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Darlene worked at Madison East High for 46 years as an administrative assistant for both principals and guidance counselors.

Darlene was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, working with the investment board, alter guild and hand bell choir. She enjoyed crochet, ceramics, baking, and needle point.

Darlene and Orville enjoyed spending weekends at Willow Mills Campground, where they organized “cow races” and decorated their trailer for “Christmas in July”.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 45 years, Orville; daughters, Sandy Schumacher and Sharon (Todd) Marks; granddaughter, Christine (Logan) Ewing; great grandchildren, Mason and Rylee Ewing; brother-in-law, Fran Weisensel; nieces, Tina (Lorenzo) and Shana Davis; great niece, Cynthia Davis and great nephew, Ari Davis; Goddaughter, Laureen Gilray; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother; sisters, Beverly Weisensel and Cynthia Davis; and brother-in-law, Jerry Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 11 AM at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2126 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, with Pastor Gerry Kuhnke presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4 PM until 7 PM at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Avenue, Madison and also at the church from 10 AM until time of service on Tuesday. Burial at Highland Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
