Darlene G. Magby, 84, of Platteville died on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at UW-Hospitals and Clinics, Madison.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Platteville. Pastor Alan Goke will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.

Darlene was born on May 4, 1929 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lester and Miranda (McKernan) Kammerude. She was united in marriage to Leroy Magby on June 30, 1948 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Mineral Point. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2006. Darlene farmed with her husband, Leroy, for 25 years in Belmont. They later owned and operated the Black Cat Tavern in Platteville and Power Lawn and Garden, Dubuque, until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed leading bible study at Jenor Towers and Manor Care Health Services both in Platteville. She was an ordained minister. She enjoyed her coffee, playing euchre and dancing.

She is survived by her children, Nora (Dick) Bonin; Teresa (Dave) Welbes; John (Sally) Magby; Sandra (Ernie) Sarbacker; James Magby; Roger (Sue DeMaio) Magby; Michael Magby; son-in-law, Michael (Ruth) Hubbard; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Teresa (Melvin) Donar; Kathy Kaiser; Joan Kammerude; three brothers, Tony (Pat) Kammerude; David (Peg) Kammerude; Michael Kammerude; family friends, Jo and Ron Gruenwald and LaVern Hill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death also by her parents, daughter, Diane Hubbard in 1997, two sisters, Gertrude Leslein and Patty Williams, three brothers, Robert, Kenny and Joe Kammerude.
