Daniel and Judith Monte

Daniel and Judith Monte

The love story between Daniel and Judith Monte continues forever. Judy reunited with Dan 70 hours after he departed.

Dan passed away on Thursday, November 9th at Meriter Hospital – with Judy by his side. Judy followed him “home” with her passing on Sunday, November 12th at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, her sons by her side.

Dan was born October 12, 1931 in New York, NY, the son of Frank and Julia Monte. He spent his childhood in Queens, later going on to serve in the Air Force and in the Korean War. He was trained as a meteorologist, working at JFK, LaGuardia, and Albany County airports.
Judy was born August 25, 1937 in New York, NY, the only daughter of Flaviano “Jack” and Elizabeth Del Boca. She worked as a payroll clerk until her marriage to Daniel on August 31, 1957.

The couple lived in Queens, where they welcomed their two sons, Richard and David. The family moved to Clifton Park, NY. Judy and Dan moved to Florida for several years after Dan’s retirement in 1987. They later “followed their grandchildren” to Waunakee, WI where they currently resided.

Judy and Dan enjoyed watching sports especially baseball- Dan a Yankees fan, and Judy’s team was the Dodgers. Their greatest joy was being grandparents to their two grandchildren, and they were very involved in their activities. Judy loved baking and cooking, making ceramics and taking care of her “Danny”. They spent time together watching the Game Show Network and TV Land.

Judy and Dan are survived by their two sons, Richard (Heidi) of Sloansville, NY and David (Peggy) of Waunakee; two grandchildren, Adam (Tamina Koch) of Eden Prairie, MN and Jamie Monte of Waunakee; step- grandchildren, Robyn (Ray) LaBarge of Wauwatosa, and Justin Sager of Madison; a great-grandaughter, Brooklyn LaBarge; and Daniel’s sister Marie (Wahab) Ali of Potomac, Maryland. The couple was preceded in death by their parents.

There will be no service for the couple, according to their wishes. Any desired memorials can be made in their names to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/give.html) or 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the care teams involved with Dan and Judy- Waunakee Senior Center, Wisconsin Dialysis, Meriter and UW Hospitals and Agrace HospiceCare.
