Dane County Humane Society celebrates 100 years

MADISON, Wis. — What’s a birthday party without cake? They certainly wanted one at the Dane County Humane Society on Wednesday.

Staff celebrated its 100th anniversary with cake for some of the dogs under their care. Since 1921, the society has been able to help more than 500,000 animals find their forever homes, all thanks to the work of countless volunteers.

“Helping animals has been a fabric of the community ever since we were founded and even well before that,” Director of Development and Marketing Director Amy Good said.  “It’s just really important, I think, that community members understand that their support is really why we’re here today.”
