Dane County Farmers’ Market to kick off 50th outdoor season in mid-April

The Dane County Farmers' Market, the largest producers only farmers' market in the U.S., is set to start its outdoor season on April 16.

The Dane County Farmers’ Market, the largest producers only farmers’ market in the U.S., is set to start its outdoor season on April 16.

This year marks 50 years for DCFM, which started in September 1972 with five farmers on Capitol Square, according to a release.

DCFM’s outdoor market is weekly through Nov. 12 from 6:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. apart from July 9 when it is at Breese Stevens Field due to Art Fair on the Square.

In addition to the Saturday Market, the Wednesday Market is returning April 20 on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The Wednesday Market will be weekly through Nov. 2.

The last two Late Winter Markets at Garver Feed Mill will be on April 2 and April 9.
