Dane Co. Humane Society offers cat adoption fee cut
Deal lasts through end of December
MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County Humane Society is offering a reduced fee for cat adoptions at its location on Madison’s west side.
Through Dec. 31, adopters can take home an adult cat for $5. The usual adoption rate is $40. For a kitten, the usual $125 rate is cut to $20.
This deal is only available at the adoption center on 7475 Mineral Point Road. This location features just cats and small animals. It has been open since 2009 and has adopted out more than 2,600 cats in that time.
Humane Society officials say an animal can be a great holiday gift, as long as the entire family is on board from the beginning.
“During the holiday time, we really recommend is to not have a pet be a surprise gift. We really think a pet can be a wonderful holiday gift if it is something the family is all aware of,” said Gayle Viney of Dane County Humane Society. “One option we do provide are adoption gift certificates. That’s a way for a family to give an adoption gift certificate as a gift and come back together and pick the animal that’s going to be the best fit for the family.”
Viney says the humane society also offers adoption counselors, who can help potential adopters with any questions and match the right pet.
