Dale Amacher, 79 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Saturday October 25, 2014 at Fort Atkinson hospital.
Dale was born on September 8, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Alfred and Viola Amacher. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked for Butler Manufacturing/Jamesway for 35 years. On December 9, 1967, he married Rena Mullen in Shullsberg, WI. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in December 2013. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2013. He served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. During his time in Germany, he travelled to Switzerland, France, England, Holland, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Austria.
Dale loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, bird watching, and especially spending time on the family farm, where he planted thousands of trees. He played softball as a young man, and enjoyed watching old TV programs and movies, especially westerns. Dale was a founding member of the Dairyland License Plate Collector’s Club, and enjoyed talking with other collectors about their collections. In addition, Dale and Rena loved going to flea markets, and garage sales looking for treasures.
Survivors include his brothers LaVerne (Donna) Amacher and Russel (Nancy) Amacher of Fort Atkinson and Kenneth (Carole) Amacher of Trempealeau, nieces Lisa Amacher, Whitewater, Julie (Bruce) Clement, Lakeville, MN, Tracey (Scott) Knox, Rockford, IL and nephew Duane (Carol) Amacher, Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lenore, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 29 at the Dunlap Memorial Home, 604 S. Main Street in Fort Atkinson with the Pastor Delisa Buckingham-Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. www.dunlapmemorialhome.com
