Curd Fest to return to Breese Stevens Field in July

MADISON, Wis. — Organizers of Wisconsin’s first festival dedicated entirely to cheese curds took the opportunity on National Cheese Day to announce that they would be returning for their ninth year this summer.

Curd Fest will be held on Saturday, July 23 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Madison’s Breese Stevens Field.

The free event will feature curds of all kinds, as well as other food trucks, “cheese-y” demonstrations, games for the entire family, and a curd-eating contest.

There will also be two live demonstrations during this year’s event, including cheese carving and sampling with Madison native Sarah “The Cheese Lady” Kauffman and a cheese-making demonstration with multiple-time “Best Fresh Curd” winner “Farmer John” Dougherty.

Kauffman has made more than 4,000 cheese sculptures over the years, while Farmer John’s cheese is a staple at area farmer’s markets.
