CrossFit Games athletes staying in campground moved indoors due to threat of storms
MADISON, Wis. — Athletes staying in the CrossFit Games campgrounds outside the Alliant Energy Center are being moved indoors ahead of potential severe weather Wednesday night.
Alliant Energy Center officials say about 100 athletes that were staying in the campgrounds on campus will be spending the night inside the coliseum instead due to the storm threat. Officials set up cots inside and say they will also give the athletes breakfast in the morning.
Earlier Wednesday, officials from the DNR urged people camping across the state tonight not to stay in tents or campers and find a place to ride out the storm.
Strong to severe storms are expected in the Madison area in the late-night and early-morning hours, potentially bringing very strong winds.
