Creative ‘Peeps’ displays bring joy to cancer patients
MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer treatment center is getting creative to bring some Easter joy to its patients.
The center is hosting its first Peeps display contest. Staff members created dioramas with the marshmallow bunnies, transforming them into characters from board games and even reality television stars.
“You just see a lot of smiles and laughter when they come down here,” medical dosimetrist Tera Christianson said. “They’re not really expecting it.”
Patients and visitors will vote on the displays in the next week and the winner will be awarded a Peeps trophy.
“Just helping patients going through this rough time in their lives is really important,” Christianson said.
