Highway 151 near Columbus cleared following crash; Jaws of Life used to extract driver
COLUMBUS, Wis. — A crash on Highway 151 near Columbus has been cleared Thursday afternoon.
An alert from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the crash happened at 1:19 p.m. Officials said the right lane was closed as a result.
According to Columbus County Fire Dept. Lt. Jarrod Fox, a lengthy backup was building on the highway near the Dane and Columbia county line.
Officials said an SUV that was pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on top lost control and went off the road into a ditch.
Authorities said the Jaws of Life were used to get the driver out of the vehicle.
Columbus Fire said the incident happened roughly a mile away from the exit for County Road V at mile marker 114. Officials asked drivers to get off at County V to avoid being stuck in traffic.
All lanes were cleared at 3:02 p.m.
