Passenger taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital
FULTON TOWNSHIP, Wis. — Two motorcycles crashed and struck a third vehicle, injuring three people Saturday, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on North County Highway H near West County Highway M in Fulton Township.
Sheriff’s officials said Matthew D. Smith, 30, of Janesville, and his passenger, Brenda Erickson, 38, of Blanchardville, were traveling southbound on North County Highway H on a motorcycle.
Gary T. Oscarson, 49, of Brodhead, was riding a motorcycle with Smith.
Smith’s motorcycle began to slow around a curve when Oscarson lost control of his motorcycle and struck Smith from behind, according to a Rock County Sheriff’s Office news release.
After the two motorcycles collided, all three occupants were ejected from the motorcycles.
The motorcycles continued southbound and struck a Honda Accord driven by a 24-year-old Edgerton woman, but no occupants of the Honda Accord were injured in the crash.
Smith suffered minor injuries and was released from the crash scene.
Oscarson was transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and Erickson was transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison by Med Flight with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the news release.
The highway was closed at the time of the crash and remained closed until about 8:30 p.m. while members of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction team complete a reconstruction of the crash.
