Craig Counsell runner up for NL Manager of the Year

Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell finished second to St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Schildt in the voting for National League Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America Tuesday.

Counsell finished second in the NL Manager of the Year voting by the BBWAA last season.

Counsell had 13 first place votes to 10 for Schildt, but the Cardinals manager had 14 second place votes to only six second place votes for Counsell.

Counsell led the Brewers to an 89-73 record in 2019.

Despite losing Christian Yelich to a broken kneecap for the final month of the season, the Brewers still made the National League Wild Card Game, losing to the eventual World Series Champion Washington Nationals.
