Cottage Grove man dies in Texas accident, grieving family creates GoFundMe
COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. — A Cottage Grove family created a GoFundMe page after a loving husband, father and friend was killed in a tragic car accident in Harrison County, Texas on Friday.
Allan Onucko, 42, was struck by a vehicle while making a delivery with his trucking company.
Onucko’s wife, Everlyn Onucko, is expecting a second daughter, who is due early February. What was supposed to be a baby shower surrounded by friends and family Saturday turned to grieving when she heard the news.
“I couldn’t believe it. I think I’m still in shock because he was just here,” Everlyn Onucko said.
She described Allan Onucko as a dedicated husband and father.
“He was the type of person who saw the best in people. Allan just had everything nice to say about everybody. He was kind and easy to forgive,” said Everlyn Onucko. “He always said, ‘Life is short. Forgive, laugh and love.'”
A native Kenyan, Allan Onucko’s remains will be transported to Kenya as a matter of tradition.
“His parents would like him to be buried in his land. As you can imagine, that’s a huge expense,” said Everlyn Onucko.
To manage funeral expenses and support the family, a Go Fund Me was created in Allan Onucko’s name. The page can be found here.
With a new child on the way while taking care of a daughter and stepdaughter, Everlyn Onucko has hope for the future.
“I can’t wait to share all the beautiful memories I have of my husband with her, and explain to her the kind of man he was and how much he loved her,” she said.
