Cook pleads guilty to 5 of 23 charges in serial sex assaults case
MADISON, Wis. — Former University of Wisconsin-Madison student Alec Cook pleaded guilty to five felonies in connection with multiple sexual assault charges spanning two years against multiple women.
Cook, 21, of Edina, Minnesota, pleaded guilty in Dane County court Wednesday to five of the charges against him. Judge Stephen Ehlke accepted the pleas for three counts of third-degree sexual assault, one count of strangulation and one count of stalking.
Eighteen counts against Cook were dismissed but read in court.

A trial had been scheduled to start next week in Jefferson County, as judges in December had approved Cook’s attorneys’ motion to move the trial out of Dane County.
Accusations against Cook spanned from September 2014 through October 2016.
