Construction continues on Capitol Square; new traffic pattern starts May 1
MADISON, Wis. — Drivers near the Capitol Square will notice changes in traffic patterns beginning May 1, city officials said Friday.
Madison’s traffic engineering department said in a release that the following streets will be closed or have reduced traffic:
West Washington Avenue will be inbound only at Carroll Street beginning May 1 and running for several weeks
South Hamilton Street at the intersection of Carroll and Pinckney streets will remain closed until July
King Street at the intersection of Main and Pinckney streets will remain closed until July
All streets that make up the Square will be closed on Saturdays beginning April 29 in order to accommodate pedestrians for the Dane County Farmer’s Market, the release said. Metro buses will also be detoured to the outer loop of the Square beginning Saturday.
City officials expect the full project to be completed in July.
