Consider Goodman Community Center for your Thanksgiving giving this year
The election is over…it’s time to think about Thanksgiving. And we don’t just mean giving thanks for the election being over. In fact this is about moving past the divisiveness of politics and helping our fellow citizens in the spirit if sharing what we have and many of us more than others.
The need for food this Thanksgiving is greater than ever. The Goodman Community center for example has 3,000 families signed up to receive Thanksgiving baskets, 500 more than in previous years. That number includes more than 5,000 children. There are a lot of opportunities to help this Thanksgiving and all are appreciated. But you’re welcome to join us and our partners in the UW Athletic department and UW’s Red and White Hunger Fight in making donations to the Goodman Community Center. The Center is accepting donations of food and especially financial contributions for the purchase of turkeys and perishable items like milk and eggs and potatoes.
Baskets will be handed out November 22nd through the 24 th , so now is the time to contribute. Head over to the Center on Waubesa Street to make your donation. And thanks for helping.
