Complaint: Fitchburg man repeatedly raped girl for more than 2 years
FITCHBURG, Wis. — A Fitchburg man faces felony charges in connection with the repeated sexual assault of a girl, according to a criminal complaint.
Antonio Shanklin, 41, was charged Oct. 25 with repeated sexual assault of a child in connection with incidents from Jan. 1, 2014 through Oct. 22, 2016.
According to the criminal complaint, a preteen girl told her teacher that Shanklin had asked her for oral sex. She later described to police incidents that took place in 2015 and 2016, and said the abuse started when she was in second grade. The girl said Shanklin told her not to tell anyone because if she did, he would get in “big trouble” and be arrested. She said Shanklin told her he’d be mad at her if she told anyone.
The girl described to police several incidents of sexual assault, including one incident in which Shanklin raped her, according to the criminal complaint. At least one assault happened in the back seat of a car, police said.
Shanklin had an initial appearance Oct. 25 and a cash bond was set at $50,000, according to online court records. He stood mute and the court entered a not guilty plea. He was ordered not to have contact with the girl or any juveniles and to not use the internet.
Shanklin also faces a felony bail jumping charge related to the incident. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Thursday in Dane County court at 10 a.m.
