Community members stop woman from driving away from a crash injuring 2
MADISON, Wis. — Police arrested Erika M. Gonzales Lara, 24, after community members stopped her from driving away from a crash that injured two people on the intersection of E. Johnson St. and N. Blount St. early Saturday morning.
According to the incident report, witnesses reported seeing Gonzales Lara hit a car with two male victims, 49 and 37, who were stopped at a red light. Neither were seriously hurt.
Police said Gonzales Lara’s passenger, a 24-year-old Sun Prairie woman, got out and started swinging at a man who was trying to keep the women from driving away, which a passersby said was what they were attempting to do. Police cited her for disorderly contact.
Gonzales Lara was taken to the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of operating under the influence 2nd offense, endangering safety by reckless driving, operating while revoked, and unsafe lane deviation.
