MADISON, Wis. — Madison’s Common Council has passed a resolution that would move the current Reindahl Park encampment to a new space on Dairy Drive.

The Common Council’s session ran late into the night on Tuesday.

The resolution declares the threat of COVID-19 spread at the Reindahl encampment to be unsafe conditions. It declares that the area is under a state of emergency and allows for the city to prepare a new site for a temporary campground at 3202 Dairy Drive.

Bryan Cooper from the city’s Facilities and Engineering Division said they will begin improving the new site Tuesday, Sept. 7. He said the Dairy Drive location won’t be ready for approximately another eight weeks.
