Columbus man arrested on suspicion of child pornography

A Columbus man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possessing child pornography.

Attorney General Brad Schimel announced Friday that David Brickett was arrested at his home in Columbus for child pornography.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities got a search warrant Wednesday and searched Brickett’s house Thursday. During the search, they found a hard drive containing images of nude males under age 18.

The criminal complaint said that during an interview with authorities, Brickett denied sexual contact with minors, but did disclose that he had one instance of sexual contact with a minor 35 years ago.

Brickett is expected to be charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, the criminal complaint said.

The Department of Justice said in a statement that Brickett had previous convictions related to child exploitation, including a conviction for possessing child pornography in Alabama, and a conviction in Wisconsin for taking pictures of minors without parental consent as a registered sex offender.

Brickett was arrested by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with help from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

The Department of Justice said that anyone seeking resources and services can connect with the DOJ Victim Resource Center at 1-800-446-6564 or .
