Columbia County sheriff searching for leads in 1982 cold case
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department is trying to identify the remains of a woman found buried on the side of a rural road in 1982, according to a release.
Last year, detectives reopened the cold case and attempted to compare her DNA to missing persons in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System, according to the release. This search returned no results.
Now Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards is asking the public for any information that might lead to the identification of this woman.
A review of the victim’s remains describes her as being a 5 foot 5 inch tall woman between 45 and 60 years old. She also has probably given birth, officials said.
