Colorado shooting victim from Wis. undergoes surgery

Wisconsin native Carey Rottman will have another round of surgery Tuesday or Wednesday at an Aurora hospital in Colorado after surviving the mass shooting at a suburban Denver movie theater that left 12 dead and 58 injured.

Rottman’s father, Dale, said doctors have told Carey it could be a year before he fully recuperates.

Rottman, of Mequon, told WTMJ radio his son had just finished recovering from a torn ligament in his opposite leg suffered about a year ago while playing basketball.

The 27-year-old Carey was one of the patients who got a visit from a half dozen Denver Broncos players Sunday. He played football at Winona State in Minnesota and faced Broncos lineman Chris Kuper’s North Dakota teams.
