Coach, organ transplant advocate Trey Schwab dead at 50

Prominent organ transplant advocate and former Marquette men’s assistant basketball coach Trey Schwab has died.

Both Marquette’s basketball program and “Donate Life Wisconsin” posted their condolences via social media.

Schwab was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2001, and waited more than two years for a double lung transplant at UW Hospital.

After receiving his transplant, he stepped down as assistant coach to work for UW Hospital. He became a vigorous advocate for organ donation and transplants.

Schwab was 50 years old.
