Cleo Lorraine Reed
MIDDLETON/VERONA-Cleo Lorraine (Lavold) Reed, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 98.
Born on April 27, 1919, in Viroqua, she was the oldest of four girls of Pete and Gladys Lavold. She graduated from Viroqua High School, attended Normal School, received her Teachers license and taught in the Davis one-room school house. She met Garold E. Reed and they married on April 13, 1943 becoming a military wife. The US Army moved them many places over the years (Alaska, New Jersey, Japan, Virginia and Germany) but settled in Middleton after Garold’s retirement.
Cleo enjoyed gardening, entertaining, playing cards, knitting and traveling. They had two children and had 62 years of marriage before Garold passed away.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Cleo is survived by her two children Glenn E. (Barbara) Reed and Carol Lynn (Ernie) Stricker; grandchildren David, Daniel, Douglas, Michelle and Renee; great-grandchildren Spencer, Brooke, Marshall, Paige, Gabrielle, Jacob, Reid, Sterling and Barrett; great-great-grandchildren Eleanor and Braxton; sisters Gloria (Harlan) Rude, Marilyn Berge; sister-in-law Norma Reed and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Patty Harrington.
Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, with the Reverend Heather Hayward presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery on Monday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
