Clara Marie Berry

Clara Marie Clark Berry, 83, of Rockbridge died Sunday, November 16, 2014.

She was born September 28, 1931 in Henrietta Township the daughter of Harry L. and Dorothy L (Banker) Clark. She grew to young womanhood on a farm in Rockbridge Township. Clara attended Rockbridge School and graduated from Richland Center High School in 1950. On November 29, 1950 she married Francis Dale Berry at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From August 1978 to April 1980 part time at Equitable Insurance Office in Richland Center. In 1977 she took a part time job at Sears Catalog in Richland Center working until June 1993. In February 1994 until September 2001 her retirement she worked at Empire Drugstore.

Clara was a member of the Richland Center Free Methodist Church where for 30 plus years, worked in the Children’s Department as a teacher in Bible School, Sunday School, Missions Department, Children’s Club, and also served as Sunday School secretary for several years. Clara loved music especially gospel and country and she sang in the church choir. She was a member of Springhill Homemakers Club for 34 years serving as President for many years and was an election clerk many years, and secretary of the Woodstock Cemetery Association. Clara loved her family and her church and wanted the best for both. She was known as “Ma Berry” to many and claimed a very special girl “Anita” as a granddaughter.

Clara is survived by five sons: Francis (Lou) Berry of Livingston, Edward (Rita) Berry of Hub City, Everett Dean Berry of Rockbridge, Charles (Lynn) Berry of Arlington, Washington, Dennis (Jeanette) Berry of Viola; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-granddaughters; 2 step-grandsons; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-granchildren; brothers: Harold (Patti) Clark of Richland Center, Ronald (Shirley) Clark of Beloit, Donald (Annette) Clark of Rockbridge, Carroll (Shirley) Clark of Richland Center; brother and sister-in-laws: Irene Berry of Plain, Reverend Donald (Renee) Berry of Waunakee, Betty (LeRoy) Bartley of Clay Center, Kansas, Shirley (Theron) Boggs of Viroqua, Carol (Paul) Sinsbury of Deforest, Judy (LaMon) Klingaman of Janesville, Karen (LaMon) Hornby of Richland Center, Norman (Alberta) Davis of Richland Center; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Verna Clark, brother and sister-in-laws: Patty Davis, Donna Lou Davis, Dwight Berry, Ann and Ed Stolpa.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Woodstock Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.

The family suggests memorials in Clara’s name be directed to the Free Methodist Church, Woodstock Cemetery Association, or the Rockbridge Meal Site.

The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
