Citizens need to work together to take stand against racism

While we gather our thoughts on how to support Madison police Chief Mike Koval’s call to action on this week’s gun violence in the city, we want to offer another opportunity for citizens to work collectively on a shared problem…the problem of racism.

Thursday through Sunday, Stand Against Racism events will be held in over 750 cities in the U.S., including here in Madison.

These events include community education and public policy advocacy to deliver a clear message from participants across the spectrum of civic life in America to join together to eliminate racism.

The YWCA of Madison, one of this community’s most consistent voices for racial justice, is hosting a webinar in collaboration with Forward Community Investments. The webinar is on Women of Color Leading Change, and you can find information on it and events at other participating sites at www.StandAgainstRacism.org.
