MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers’ inconsistent offense will get a boost as the team starts a new series Monday night in Philadelphia, with Lorenzo Cain and former MVP Christian Yelich being activated off the injured list.

Yelich hasn’t played since April 11th and has missed the last 19 games due to a sore back, while Cain has been out of action since April 13th due to a strained quadriceps.

The Brewers have continued to win while the two All-Stars were out, thanks to backups Billy McKinney and Tyrone Taylor stepping in, and veteran Jackie Bradley, Jr. handling much of the time in center field.

Taylor and struggling infielder Keston Hiura were sent down to the Brewers’ Alternate Training Site to make room on the 25-man roster for Cain and Yelich.

Hiura moved to first base this year after the free agent signing of second baseman Kolten Wong, but has struggled both defensively and offensively. Hiura has struck out in 36% of his plate appearances this season, one of the highest rates in the majors.

With Hiura no longer on the roster, Dan Vogelbach is in the starting lineup at first base for the Brewers Monday night, along with Cain and Yelich.
