Chocolaterian will not reopen Atwood location after fire
Chocolaterian in Middleton remains operational
MADISON, Wis. — Officials from Chocolaterian announced they will not be reopening its Atwood location after a fire damaged its location in February.
According to a Facebook post, after many conversations, the owners decided to close the 2004 Atwood Ave. location.
“At this point, we honestly don’t know whether or not we’ll be able to find and open a new east-side location,” the Facebook post said.
“We are heartbroken over the loss of our original cafe but it helps a lot to see the restoration in full swing,” the post said.
Chocolaterian is going to work with some east side businesses to carry some of the treats usually available in store.
A GoFundMe page was set up after the fire. The site earned $23,574, which accomplished its first goal of covering operational costs. The post said the business has stabilized enough that they no longer need operational financial support.
The Facebook post announced they will close the GoFundMe page Wednesday at 5 p.m. since the business has “made it past the imminent danger of closing due to lack of income.”
The Middleton Chocolaterian remains open and now serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
The location offers all of the same sweets and treats as the location on Atwood Avenue.
Chocolaterian also offers online orders and ships anywhere in the United States.
“We honestly are overwhelmed by everyone’s support and have no idea how we would have survived without our customers’ help,” the post said.
