Chilly but quiet New Year’s Eve

MADISON, Wis. – The year will come to an end Tuesday night with snow on the ground and chilly weather. Temperatures will fall through the 20s in the evening. Wind speeds will be in the lower teens, so wind chill will not be much of a factor.

By midnight, Madison will be near 20 degrees with mostly clear skies. Cool enough to need a jacket but not too brisk.

Wednesday will start 2020 with mild weather. Plan on some of the snow melting away in the afternoon as temperatures reach the upper 30s. The average high temperature in Madison for January 1 is 27 degrees.

It will be a little breezy New Year’s Day; wind speeds will be in the middle to upper teens.

The next chance of rain moves in Thursday night and stays through Friday. Since temperatures will stay above freezing, this will just be a rain event.
