Children Participate In Mile-Long Race, Healthy Living Program
About 70 children took part in a mile-long race Tuesday in Madison’s Allied Drive neighborhood.
It was a beautiful day Tuesday for the “Miler In Training” event, which was held at Marlborough Park.
The program is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Fleet Feet Sports and Brooks Sports.
The “Miler In Training” teaches children to run, get fit and eat healthy for six weeks, and organizers said a mile goes a long way.
“Our goal is to prevent childhood obesity. That’s how the program started, just get kids active in the community,” said Jessica Anderson, event organizer.
After the race, each child who completed the program received a pair of running shoes from Fleet Feet Sports.
