Children find 56-year-old man’s body in wooded area, sheriff says
DEERFIELD, Wis. — Officials are investigating the death of a man whose body was found by children in Deerfield Tuesday, according to a news release.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at 5:53 p.m. to an unresponsive man found in a wooded area near High Street.
A 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dane County medical examiner.
The sheriff’s office said an autopsy was expected Wednesday to determine the cause and manner of his death.
A preliminary investigation showed no signs of trauma, according to a news release.
A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said drug paraphernalia was found near the man’s body and officials believe drugs might have been involved in his death.
