Child torture retrial continues with child abuse expert
Testimony continues in the Madison child torture case of Chad Chritton.
A University of Wisconsin-Madison child abuse expert was on the stand for several hours Tuesday.
Dr. Barbara Knox detailed her exchanges with the alleged victim, known in court documents as SLC. Prosecutors asked about claims the girl was denied food, water and a bathroom.
Knox said the girl’s height and weight were below normal for teens her age; she weighed 68 pounds when she was found by authorities.
“So I plotted her on a growth curve and she was completely off. What I see is starvation,” Knox said.
Chritton faces multiple felony counts, including first-degree reckless endangerment, child abuse, causing mental harm to a child and false imprisonment.
The retrial could wrap up by the end of the week.
