Charter’s digital upgrade sends customers to stores
Customers need converter box for each TV they have
MADISON, Wis. — Dozens flocked to Charter Communication stores Tuesday to try and take care of issues they’re experiencing after the company started switching to all-digital signals.
On March 11, Charter began switching to all-digital broadcasting, leaving the analog age in southern Wisconsin behind.
That change requires some viewers to use a converter box for each television they have. Charter is providing one box for free for the first year.
Company officials said 100 percent digital programming provides a better experience for customers.
“That gives customers more than 200 high-definition channels, access to more than 10,000 On Demand programming, and by regaining that bandwidth, we’re able to increase Internet speeds,” Charter Regional Director of Communication Kim Haas said.
Charter’s digital upgrade will continue through April. To ease the transition, they’ve extended hours at their offices.
