Charles Daniel “Danny” O’Sullivan

STOUGHTON-Charles Daniel “Danny” O’Sullivan, age 75, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012, at Harmony Living Center. Danny was born on May 27, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Dan and Thelma O’Sullivan.

He was a graduate of Lockland High and Ohio State University. Danny married Joyce Maby on May 29, 1993, in Whitewater. Danny spent his entire career working with student activities in a university environment. He was Director of the Hoofer’s Outing Club at UW – Madison, Assistant Director of the Student Union at West Virginia University and Student Union Director and Club Sports Director at UW – Whitewater. Danny was active in the National Collegiate Ski Association and served as their Ski Trip Coordinator. He served on several committees of the Association of College Unions International including three years as Chairman of the National Recreation Committee. Danny retired in 1998, but continued to lead an active lifestyle. His winter activities were downhill and cross country skiing. In the summer he loved to go boating, water skiing, camping and biking. He also took great pride in his lawn and flower gardens. Danny is a past-president of Madison Skilaufers, Stoughton Rotary Club and the Stoughton Opera House Board.

Danny is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Sean O’Sullivan (Melissa Martowicz) of Middleton; daughter, Kelly (Doug) Stobbe of Apopka, Fla.; grandchildren, McKenna and Kegan O’Sullivan of Middleton and Chase and Jameson Stobbe of Apopka, Fla.; sister, Kathie (Tom) Deters of Brookville, Ind.; and brothers, Jack and Bob (Karen) O’Sullivan of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is further survived by nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his former wife, Dianne (Blanchard) Sieker.

A Celebration of Danny’s Life will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway 51, Stoughton, from Noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association or the Friends of Kegonsa State Park. The family would like to thank Harmony Living Center of Stoughton and Heartland Hospice Service for the warm and loving care they gave to Danny, and their friends and neighbors for their support.
