Charlene J. Garcia
Charlene J. Garcia, 77, Jefferson, formerly Fort Atkinson, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
She was born on December 7, 1939 at Westby, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Leo and Darlene (Eitland) Ostrem.
Charlene married Richard Garcia on December 8, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. He died on January 27, 2007.
was a graduate of the Westby High School and then attended Junior College for two years where she received an associate degree. Charlene was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in Chicago as a payroll clerk until retirement. She then was employed by UW-Whitewater in the payroll department. Later, she worked as a church secretary at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson and most recently at the Fireside Restaurant and Playhouse in the Box Office department.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.
Survivors include her children, Richard of Fort Mill, S.C., Vanessa (Jay) Leonard of Jefferson; grandchildren, Christopher, Jacob and Hannah Holmes; siblings, Steven (Gayle Solheim) Ostrem and Susan Ostrem both of Minnesota.
Also preceding in death was a son Christopher and brother Lauren Ostrem.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson with the Rev. David Ernest officiating.
Graveside services will be on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Coon Prairie Cemetery at Westby.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church until the time of service.
