Changing of the guard: Wisconsin National Guard has new deputy adjutant general
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Army National Guard hosted a changing of the guard ceremony Friday afternoon in Madison.
Brig. Gen. Matthew Strub succeeded retiring Brig. Gen. Joane Mathews as the Wisconsin National Guard’s deputy adjutant general.
In his new role, Strub will now assume command of the guard’s more than 7,000 citizen soldiers.
Mathews is retiring after a groundbreaking career during which she became the Wisconsin National Guard’s first female and Native American deputy adjutant general for Army, chief of staff and brigade commander.
