Chandler Halderson formally charged in mother Krista Halderson’s death

MADISON, Wis. — Chandler Halderson has been formally charged with killing his mother, Krista Halderson.
According to online court records, Halderson is now facing two counts for each of the following charges: first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse, and false information on kidnapped/missing persons.

In the weeks after the 23-year-old was arrested and charged, authorities searched multiple areas — including a pond behind the family’s home and a landfill near Johnson Creek — for evidence tied to the investigation.
Human remains found on DNR land in northwestern Dane County were identified on July 30 as belonging to Krista.
Halderson was first charged with killing his father, Bart Halderson, on July 15.
