It’s the care that matters
While a lot of people certainly benefit from the health care IT technology designed by CenterX, most have never heard of the company. And that’s OK with CenterX President Matt Schaefer and the 60 employees who work behind the scenes to provide real-time prescription benefit (RTPB) checking while patients are still in their provider’s office. This allows them to see the out-of-pocket cost for a medication before it’s even prescribed.
“Our mission is to improve the experience of providers and their patients,” explains Schaefer. “Everything we do is to reduce the complexity of health care and get data to the right people at the right time.”
That goal is what drives team members — and along with supportive management and great co-workers, makes CenterX such a great place to work. When Schaefer met with each person individually to find out their likes and dislikes, the resounding response was, “I like the people I work with, and I trust my manager.” A whopping 88% reported feeling engaged or highly engaged.
Every all-team meeting ends with what they call “kudos.” Employees can write in thanking someone for helping them and each kudos is read aloud. “It’s a good way to perpetuate that culture of ‘we care about how you treat each other,’” stresses Schaefer.
“Our team members are working hard, they’re intellectually challenged, they’re doing great work, they like each other — and they care about helping,” says Schaefer. “And on top of that, our space in health care is meaningful — we’re doing things that really matter.”
