Celebrate a big month of Jazz in April

Don't miss the final Capital City Jazz Fest!
Celebrate a big month of Jazz in April

Two jazz events in April 2018 will celebrate major anniversaries. The 30th–and final–Capital City Jazz Fest will take place April 27-29. The host organization, the Madison Jazz Society, will remain active, but announced last year that this would be the last fest. Expect some major headliners, including vocalist Marilyn Keller, Fat Babies, the Powerhouse Five + One and others.

The same month also marks the 50th anniversary of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Jazz Orchestra, which will celebrate with three concerts, each of them featuring star trumpeter Marquis Hill. On Tuesday, April 24, Hill appears with members of the UW-Madison Jazz Composers Group and Contemporary Jazz Ensemble in a free event at Morphy Recital Hall; Thursday, April 26, Hill performs with UW-Madison jazz faculty in Morphy Hall; and Friday, April 27, is the final concert, with Hill, UW-Madison Jazz Orchestra and UW-Madison High School Honors Jazz Band.
