CBS projects Democratic Sens. Ossoff, Warnock as winners of Georgia runoff elections, shifting Senate control

Democrats Jon Ossoff and the Rev. Raphael Warnock have defeated incumbent Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in Georgia’s runoff elections, CBS has projected.
The close and contentious races were called as protesters breach the U.S. Capitol Building, though the results remain unofficial until the certification process is complete.

With the Senate tied at 50-50, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris would be able to act as a tie-breaking vote in the White House. The results would put both houses of Congress as well as the White House under single-party control for the first time since the first two years of Barack Obama’s presidency.
President-elect Joe Biden and President Donald Trump both campaigned in Georgia on Monday ahead of election day.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
