Catherine Marie Scott
La Prairie Township — Catherine Marie Scott, age 91, went to her Heavenly reward on August 25, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at her home in La Prairie Township. She spent the last 62 years of her life in the house she helped build in 1950. Catherine was born, raised and lived her entire life in La Prairie and Bradford Townships on farms. She was born on June 2, 1921, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Reisenauer) Wellnitz. She married Raymond Wesley Scott on January 17, 1942 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Janesville. She was a charter member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she volunteered with Parish dinners, festivals and rummage sales. Catherine worked her entire married life raising and loving her family, working alongside her faithful husband Raymond, growing a garden and worshipping her Almighty Father. She enjoyed her cats, sewing, spending time with family, gardening, cooking and baking (especially cinnamon rolls and molasses cookies). Mom loved to visit with people.
A wonderful wife and mother, Catherine will be missed by her husband of 70 years, Raymond, and her children: Frank (Martha) Scott, Joseph (Kathleen) Scott, Paul (Carol) Scott, Monica (David) Wheeler and Michael (Susan) Scott. She will also be missed by her 18 grandchildren and her 16 great grandchildren. Catherine is also survived by siblings: Johanna Cash, Josephine (Joseph) Bielenberg, Joseph (Beatrice) Wellnitz, Harry Wellnitz, Rosemary (James) Pakes and Helen (Robert) Sweeney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Alfred (June) Wellnitz, Cecelia (Wenzel) Schneider, Bernard (Katherine) Wellnitz and Frank (Margaret) Wellnitz; and in-laws: Cecil Cash, Inez Wellnitz and Harold (Helen) Scott.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory and again on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Special Thank You’s to the staff of Home Instead and Agrace Hospice Care who were instrumental in allowing Mom to spend her final days at home, as she always wanted. The staff made sure Catherine was comfortable and that she was involved with the daily chores Catherine enjoyed. Thank you also to Sr. Lauretana Gorman, OP, for your spiritual guidance.
