Catherine “Cate” Wilcox-Nash

Catherine “Cate” Wilcox-Nash

MADISON/BLUE MOUNDS/ STOUGHTON- Catherine Ann Wilcox-Nash, age 56, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017.

She was born on December 13, 1960, the daughter of Lee and Judith Wilcox in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Tom Nash on August 27, 1989.

Cate attended Stoughton High School. She dedicated her life to social work and helping others, starting early by working at Head start and fostering young woman in her home. She later was owner and operator of an Adult Family Home for elderly and disabled adults.

Cate had an unwavering spirit for helping people; working and advocating for organizations such as YWCA, and Madison Aids Support Network.

Cate had a great passion for music, following bands such as, Pink Floyd, Robert Earl Keen, Aerosmith, Guy Clark, and Madison local, Free Hot Lunch. Another special joy in Cate’s life was shopping, from clothes to candles, antiques, and jewelry, Cate became quite the collector. She had an outstanding love for dogs, so much so that she developed her own unique way of communicating with them.

Wherever Cate was going she was going fast, she drove her Saab like a NASCAR driver, zipping down the road, and even attending many Saab conventions. While battling cancer, she found peace and thrills riding in her convertible Saab, going 100 miles an hour with her hands in the air yelling “F***!”. Cate was always relentlessly herself. Bold and Beautiful smelling of Opium perfume, Cate lived life above and beyond going 100 miles an hour in anything she was doing. Her huge heart and stunning personality made waves through every life she encountered. Her languages of love were gifting and feeding others even when she had little herself. Nana and Mama Cate will always be with us and always a part of us.

Cate is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Schuyler Wilcox-Nash (Erik Van Gomple); daughter, Kaya Wilcox (Dan Smith); two sisters, Sarah Borrelli and Elizabeth Wilcox and her Father Lee Wilcox; as well as many other family, adoptive family and friends. She was preceded in death by her Mother Judith Wilcox.
